So far, seeing as I've only spent a weekend here in '98, I don't have much to tell about Taiwan. However at the moment I'm in the UK and nearing the close of a temporary contract with Celanese UK and soon I'll be on my way to Heathrow ticket in hand winging my way back to Hong Kong and ... Taiwan.
Until then here are a few photos from my trip last year.
The last time I was in Taipei there's free internet usage at the main station. Be prepared for queues and there are no seats but it's free! (But E-mail me if this is no longer the case.)
Although I met Gibble in Taiwan I don't have enough photos to qualify a Taiwan page- thus Hong Kong being geographically close enough is the page in which Gibble appears. Gibble (Andrew Gibson) has been teaching in Taiwan for a while although at the time of writing he's in Thailand doing a spot of R&R. We met at the Happy Family Hostel near the railway station in Taipei, April '98, and have been communicating through the internet since.
As in many Asian countries you can find people exercising in different ways in the public parks. Here's a student of Kung Foo under the watchful eye of his si-fu.
The weekend I visited Taipei it was raining which is, as I've been told, to be expected. Obviously this does affect lighting conditions for photos. Here's a view within the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park.
Military marching always fascinates me for it's form and grace. The constant marching and saluting of the guards at the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall is highly impressive.
